UOI Presentations

Each group researched about a different astronomer and wrote down information for their group. After 5 days of researching they come together to share their knowledge. The groups worked together to write a document about their astronomer and how they did it.We shared the knowledge with everyone else by making posters, slides,speeches , plays and some people did models and totally different things. Most of the astronomers barely used telescopes. I learnt that the astronomers had more than 12 theories!. I also learnt that some astronomers also only used their eyes just to figure out a million things!. The groups could only choose 1 astronomer.The astronomers were Ptolemy,Copernicus,Aristotle,Edwin hubble and Galileo galilei! The students really worked hard like me. Especially the really good focussed people. they worked hard to make their presentation the best in the school!!! BY ALEX FREEMAN In November we had a guest speaker from the University of Auckland. If you want to contact him you can with this email address which is jamie.stavert@gmail.com. He taught us about what Auckland looked like before we turned it into a massive city where thousands of people live, NOW it does. A lot of animals used to live in Auckland now less then half of that lives in Auckland. He also taught us why some of NZ's pollinators need to stay alive. Because they have a role in all of the food we eat for instance fruit, vegetables or even bread. They even help with making coffee or tea. The person that told us was very nice and calm and he didn't hesitate at all which was amazing, I think we all learn't something from him.

Year 7 maths

Y ear 7 Maths On Wednesday 21st of February room 13 did maths with the year 7s.They were teaching us how to use some new strategies in math. Hi I am Zach and in my math group my teachers were Felix and Conor and the other students I was being taught with where Milly,Shawn and Marvin.The strategies they taught us where how to take away 1s from big numbers for example if you had 20000 dollars and spent one dollar all the zeros would turn to nines and the first number would turn to the number below it. At the end of the session with the year 7s we payed a game of math tag the rules of the game are someone will call out a math equation and the first person the put their hand up will answer the question and if they get it correct they can move two steps and they have to try to tag the other plays and the last man standing wins.
